Ashton, Derek, and I went out to High Country Humane this afternoon to meet dogs. We really had no definite intention for adoption. We are still missing our Snickers, but it has been totally empty and sad without a dog in the house. We certainly did not expect to come home with the first one that we met. After reading descriptions of the many of the dogs at the facility, we chose to meet with "Carrie" as the description met much of the criteria that we were looking for in a new dog. Note at this facility you do not wander through the kennels to see all of the dogs up for adoption. You have to choose dogs from a list/pictures/descriptions and then they bring the dog to meet you in a private yard. Anyway, we chose to meet with Carrie, and she basically chose us by immediately going up to Derek and kissing him in the face. She is 10 months old and they think a shepherd mix. Only she knows for sure! She is about 32 pounds and may not get much bigger. She is a great size! She is very gentle and sweet. She loves people and other dogs and is great with kids. (not sure about cats). Ashton basically told the woman that was helping us, "Yup, we will adopt her!". So she came home with us! Ashton also said that we should call her "Curie" (instead of Carrie) after the famous female chemist and physicist. We all agreed that was a fabulous idea!
When we first got home, she was a bit nervous about the inside of our house. So we all spent the afternoon outside. The neighbors and all of the grandparents came over to meet her. She LOVED all of the attention! Derek made a fire to warm us up as it is a very brisk fall day!
She is now totally passed out at my feet after a very big day!!!!
Welcome to our family Curie!!!!!
