He went on a field trip yesterday to Camp Colton. Normally every sixth grader gets to go to Camp Colton for a week overnight at the beginning of their sixth grade year. Due to COVID that did not happen. However it was great that each sixth grader gets to go for a day before school ends for fun outdoor activities. The kids had archery lessons, participated in geocaching, went in a scavenger hunt, had tug of war on balance beam competitions, and other fun activities on Monday. Below is the bead and wood necklace that he made as a craft. They even got rained on in the woods. He said it was a great day!
Today I signed him up for Summer Flagstaff Junior Band. So Ashton’s summer activities will include Lowell Astronomy camp in the evenings for a week in June and swim lessons on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and band throughout June and July on Wednesday afternoons. I have volunteered to help with the junior band woodwind sections and will be participating in the adult Flagstaff community band. Zach will have tennis clinic almost daily in his summer afternoons. We are encouraging him to get a summer job in the mornings. It will be a busy summer!
Derek and I tried two new beers tonight, a strawberry rubarb sour and a prickly pear wheat. The sour was our favorite, but they were both tasty.
While I was out picking Zach up from tennis at the country club and working with him on parking practice, Derek made homemade eggrolls and egg drop soup for dinner. Delicious!!!
And some Tuesday food for thought:
