One last grillfest before the fire ban

Well, I need to eat my prophetic words from last night’s post. As if 5pm tonight, the City of Flagstaff banned all campfires, fire pits, and charcoal grill fires until further notice. This is all to avoid sending first responders into additional harms-way for potential forest fires and taxing the emergency response system in addition to Covid-19 actions. We are sad because we love our charcoal grilling and fire pit campfires. So as a last hurrah (and because we needed to before it was too late) we grilled steak for lunch served with potatoes and salad and had s’mores for dessert.

Ashton attempts to light charcoal via sunlight. No fire, but he did burn it!

Even Snickers is depressed that this is our last fire for a while.

Derek has ordered an electric heating element so that we can grill outside using electric power (not banned). So we will be grilling again soon, just not with that tasty charcoal goodness. And if we want camp fire ambiance, I guess we can watch a movie via phone propped against the grill stones. Ha!
