Derek’s last day of work is tomorrow. His group took him out to lunch last Wednesday and gave him a gift card for new hiking boots (which he needs), a hiking first aid kit, and a book of hikes in Flagstaff and Sedona. So thoughtful!!!
I taught my last two BodyPump classes this past Friday and Saturday. My class members and I jammed it up superhero style and had a great final blowout. I will miss them! My “boss” at the Y gave me a YMCA sweatshirt as a going-away gift to keep me warm in the mountains.
Last night we got together with the Vilardo’s who helped clean us out if all the food items that will be either difficult or impossible to ship. This morning I had my last weekend run with the runner girls and then had coffee/breakfast with my original runner pose, Denay, Peggy and Tracy.
Derek and I planned to start packing car items for our trip. However plans were waylaid by my car. My WRX check engine light came on plus cruise control light started blinking. This also disables the use of cruise control. This happened once before to my car and had also happened to Derek’s car and usually mean the emissions sensor has tripped. After tightening the gas cap, refueling, and starting the car a few times the error usually corrects itself. So we tried that again but it did not work, and I am not thrilled about making the 14+ hr drive to AZ with no cruise control. We took the car in yesterday to get the oil changed at a good local establishment. The oil change place was able to clear a similar lights problem in Derek’s car about a year ago with no problem since. However they said they no longer have the capability.
So I called on friends who have car savvy husbands. Well to make a long story short, after plugging into the car to read the error codes, tweaking a few things which resulted in the car not starting at all (panic set in at that point)- the final culprit was a dying battery. We got a new battery and now car is running well with working cruise control and no blinking lights. So we are good to go for our upcoming trip. However we do plan to take it in to the Subaru dealership in Flagstaff (yay they have one in town!!!!) next week upon arrival to get full checks (we just had it in for full. He is and service in April-groan!) and also have them fix a minor recall. Yay- the fun never stops!!!!

In other news, with the reappearance of the suitcases, Snickers is not happy. Little does she know that she gets to ride along on the upcoming grand adventure this time!
Also a quick shout out to my Wonder Niece who looks great disguised as a normal seven year old in her new pink tinted sunglasses!
