Pondering over Pants

What to do on a Monday night? Go to the store and buy your son dress shoes, pants, and a belt the night before 5th grade promotion to middle school because said 5th grader finally divulged the dress code for the event. Proceed to only find pants that are 4-6 inches too long. Spend 2 hours hemming/tacking said pants after a freak out phone call to your Mom for sewing advice.  (Realize your Grandparents are probably sending "I told you so's." from the grave because you refused to take home economics in middles school.) Hone even more domestic skills and iron said pants. Pants look great, at least to your non trained eye. Write note to 5th grader threatening that he will not live to go to middle school and will get hung by his toenails if he does not put on pants with care and avoid ripping stitches out. Sign note with love (and maybe a tear or two) as you realize you just bought your son his first manly pair of dress pants and dress shoes and that elementary school will be a thing of the past in 2 days. Kiss 5th grader on the head as he is snoring peacefully in bed and try to make time slow down just a tad.
