Insane InFLOATAble 5k

We started off our morning in Amarillo with water. Lots of it!  Starting at 5am the heavens opened up and it downpoured continuously until 10am. We were scheduled to run the Insane Inflatables 5k   Race together as a family at 8:45 am. The race was delayed until 10am due to the storms. We "ran" it, but the course ended up being only 1.5 miles with only half the obstacles due to the standing water. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. The most interesting part of the day was actually driving to the race as we had to do a lot of maneuvers and backtracking due to flooded intersections. Luckily also that we had the hotel booked for late departure so that we could get cleaned up after the event. Derek and Zach both also go to get a new pair of shoes out of the deal since they did not bring spares like Ash and I.

Most of the course was ankle deep water/mud. Course Ashton ran the whole way cause he is not as heavy as the rest of us and walks on water. He did take a nosedive into the drink toward the end when his shoe got stuck in the mud!

Most of the following pics are of Ash as we got separated from Derek and Zach.

We made it to Ruidoso early evening. Our cabin is great and has a fantastic view.
We went to the Rio Grande Grill and Tap Room for dinner. Great beer and delicious food. Green chile corn bread for appetizer. Afterwards we went to the grocery store to pick up breakfast items and snacks. With all the day's excitement and the ting change, we are all wiped out (and doing laundry-yay)! I am lounging on the bed writing this and eating Oreos (once a year vacation indulgence)! More soon!
