It is coincidental that Ash's latest heart checkup took place today during Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) awareness week as well as Valentine's Day week. His appointment was right smack in the middle of the day, so he got to play hookie from school and Derek and I took the day off of work. After dropping off Zach at school, the three of us drove down to Tulsa and got the oil changed on the car at the Subaru dealer. Of course this happened in record time. So we went to the "closed" mall and walked around while drinking Starbucks until 10 am. Luckily the indoor playground was also open to Ash's amusement. We then got Derek outfitted for work for another year or two.
Waiting for Daddy to emerge from the dressing room!
After shopping, we went to a noodle place for lunch. Ash ate macaroni and cheese with meatballs. (Really yummy). Derek and I had Asian noodle dishes.
Ash's appointment went well. He has had no change from two years ago with his heart- no residual stenosis/narrowing of the pulmonary heart valve and only mild valve blood leakage. The doctor was very pleased. He does not have to go back for another checkup for two more years.
Lounging during the echocardiogram (heart sonogram with blood flow Doppler)
Wired up for EKG!
Ash did a great job! To celebrate the good news we went to the Air and Space Museum! We spent about 30 minutes learning all about the F-14 Tomcat fighter. We also got a personal tour of the MD-80 airplane they have onsite.
Back at home sporting the Roar N'Run medal supporting hearts week for CHD kids. It is now hanging on the medal tree! So proud of our little guy and so glad he is doing well!
Your post makes my day. So happy for Ash. So happy for the whole family. Life is good 😄
