Zachary's Invention Essay and Movie Trailer

For his gifted and talented program at school, Zach had to research and write an essay about an invention.  Additionally he created a movie trailer to showcase this invention.  Enjoy!

History of the Windshield Wiper

By: Zachary

If we didn’t have Windshield Wipers we won’t see when it rains, snows, and etc. Mary Anderson is the inventor of the Windshield Wiper. Windshield Wipers are useful in storms.

Mary Anderson invented the first operational Windshield Wiper. Mary Anderson was born in February 9, 1866, in Burton Hill Plantation in Greene County. She got the idea when she had gone on a trip to New York City when drivers stick their heads out the window to see in a storm.

The first Windshield Wiper used a rubber blade and a lever. This invention was made in 1903.  Today the Windshield Wiper is still used on every automobile.

Windshield Wipers were first used in 1905.  They were used to get water, snow, and etc. off your car. You will pull the lever and it will wipe clean your windshield.

Use Windshield Wipers to get water, snow, and etc. off your car. Without it we won’t be able to see when it storms. Thank Mary Anderson for the Windshield Wiper!

  1. Great work Zach! I can't wait to hear how you made the video! Your report was very informative. I had no idea who invented, why or when one of the most important pieces of car equipment. Thank you for sharing your research.
