So it turns out that BodyCombat is a lot like the TaeBo workouts that I used to do in the late 90s. The class was fun, but high intensity. Lots of punches and kicks! I am totally sore today - especially my punching muscles and my behind! There was high hopes for a long run this morning with running buddies, but between various maladies (allergies have been a real bother for many with all of the trees and flowers blooming) and the weather - some rain and a few thunderstorms- we all decided that sleeping in sounded more fun!
Zach's soccer team lost their game yesterday. Only 4 boys (out of 8) originally showed up. The team needs six on the field to play a game. Luckily the other team had a full compliment of boys , so was able to loan us 2 boys so that our game could continue. Then another one of our team showed up 20 minutes late. Either way, the boys played hard- even the ones who we had to borrow. They only lost by one point. Proud of them!!!! (No yellow cards thrown this game -ha! I spoke to the Academy coach about it and he said that the referee was totally out of line for this age group as this is primarily for fun and not so hard core. Oh well!) Zach's last game will be this coming Tuesday evening, then we will be free of one sport!
After Zach's game, we came home and grilled fajitas then played outside. Such a beautiful day. Zach and Ash were teaching us a game they learned at school called Four Square. This game has way too many rules and I swear they were making them up as they went along (primarily to aggravate each other), but it was fun non-the-less. Today is overcast with the threat of storms. However, we may had over to the middle school track just to run and walk a bit for 30 minutes or so (and to work off the leftover pancakes and sausage that we just got done enjoying). Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Rousing games of Sleeping Queens and Zeus on the Loose are on the schedule for this afternoon along with finishing the laundry and prepping the house for Grandpa Randy and Grandma Peggy's Easter visit next weekend!
In other news, efforts to be more healthy (more exercise, more veggies, less junk) continue to pay off. I have lost 12 pounds since mid-February! Yay! Four more to go to target! (and a much needed trip to the store for pants that fit!) Derek has also lost about 10 pounds and is getting a well toned abs and chest. Very nice ;) Of course the boys continue to be boys and are starting to eat us out of house and home. Better them eating the food than us!!!! Although they now both request salad/fruits/veggies on a regular basis! Yay!
I played coed 4Square in grade school through 8th grade and LOVED it!!! We played before school and after and during lunch hour. Forgot how it goes exactly but would love to play with the boys. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteGood, maybe you can explain the rules to Derek and I. The boys have us thoroughly confused!
ReplyDeleteHa! We'll see if the memory bank can be accessed between now and our arrival. Might try google to help things along.
ReplyDeleteVery impressive! It sounds like you guys have really accomplished a lot. Keep up the good work! We'll have some Swedish strawberries ready for you when you get here :)
