Beautiful weather for a day outside. Ash had his first soccer game today at noon. Wow- 4 and 5 year olds playing soccer---nothing like it. The kids play eight - 5 minute play periods with a short water break in between each as well as half time in the center of it all. Each team had two games going at once with the kids playing 3 on 3 with 2 kids on the sidelines resting during a given period. so, the whole game lasted an hour and a half. A lot of kicking, many hand balls, running the wrong direction, lots of picking grass, random spinning and/or dancing, laying down on the field, crying because the other team scored a goal, = lots of excitement and tons of drama. Ash scored three goals! Two for his team and one for the other team!!! Totally entertaining and a bit maddening! Most kids were tired and had lost interest by half time. One kid refused to play after half time. Another would not go onto the field to play unless she was holding her Dad's hand. So her Dad ran around the field with her! Ashton would be engaged for a couple minutes, then was THAT kid laying down in the middle of the field because he was "tired". Joy! Can't wait for next weekend's game!
Late this afternoon we got together with our friends from Ponca City, the Lewis family, for a cookout. Great company and fun for all. What a fabulous Saturday!
We are thinking about Aunt Jenny who will be running her first half marathon tomorrow. You go girl!!!!We can't wait to hear all about it!
Children's sports are often like trying to herd cats!
