Today has been eventful. I ran 6 miles with Tracy this morning, then came back home and took a 7 mile bike ride with the boys. Third week in a row doing this on Sunday - going a little father each time on the bike to build strength and endurance. At this rate, I should sign up for a biathlon!!!! Zach is getting better and better managing the hills. Ash is my own personal cheerleader on the tandem bike. He is always good at reminding me to take water breaks!!! (mostly because he is fascinated with the water bottle!!!).
Ash and I were in the lead on the bikes today and were treated to the sight of a coyote crossing the path in front of us. He stopped to regard us momentarily before disappearing into the woods. What a great moment. We also came across a box turtle on the trail (second one of the morning as Tracy and I also encountered a smaller one on a different part of the trail).
After returning home and getting cleaned up, we went out for a lunch/dinner of BBQ, then headed to the Bartlesville Community Center for the opening concert of the Bartlesville annual OK Mozart Festival. We were treated to a "Symphonic Afternoon at the Movies", watching the Wizard of Oz with the Amici New York Orchestra playing the score live to the show. "Oz with Orchestra" as they called it. Lots of fun! Ash especially liked the movie. After seeing both this show as well as Oz the Great and Powerful, he declared that he wants a tornado to come so that we can go to Oz. Ummm.... probably not the best way to travel!!! Anyway- enjoy the pics...
Posing with a munchkin! (Dorothy is in the background on the right.) All of the characters from the movie were there to pose for pictures. We tried to get a pic with the wicked witch, but she kept disappearing!
In other news- I think I forgot to report that Zach was tested and got into the gifted and talented program (GATE) at school. Yay Zach!!!!! He is already finished with two out of the three books that he got at the library yesterday! Whew!!!!
Wow what a wonderful weekend. Hmmm, wishing for Tornados - sounds like another young one we knew/know so well. Ash and Uncle Greg the tornado chasers! Yay Zach! Just keep on reading - books are one of the greatest things on earth.
ReplyDeleteI hope Zach likes being in the gifted and talented program. Totally jealous that you experienced my favorite movie accompanied by a live orchestra!
