Today was another day spent out and about in the Bartlesville/ Dewey area. After spending a leisurely morning at home, we grabbed lunch at Quiznos (yay for coupons!) and headed to Prairie Song, a historical old west town on the prairie east of Dewey, OK for a Wild West show. While waiting in the long line to buy tickets and park, we were treated to a longhorn cattle drive! The show was really good - not quite as exciting as some of our experiences at the Houston Rodeo, but fun! the only downside was that we did not bring our own chairs (there was nothing on the website that said that their arena did not have seating---oh well...). So Derek and I stood for the 2 hour show while the boys camped out right up at the fence line. We were treated to events including trick riding, trick roping, wild cow milking, wild horse races, a stage coach robbery, and the most unique event... monkeys riding on dogs herding sheep--- know at the "Ghostriders". Check it out: http://www.teamghostriders.com/
Anyway- it was fun! Now time to read a bit outside (the weather has been fantastic!) until dinnertime!
To be exact, the monkeys on dogs herd the sheep onto a semi!
Oh yes, one more thing... The movie in town officially starts shooting tomorrow - with filming of outside shots around Bartlesville. Trailers and catering vans have started appearing downtown. (e.g. "For Stars Catering" out of NM - Julia Roberts ranch is in Taos, NM) Apparently George Clooney ate at Frank and Lolas a few days ago. I told Derek he was to keep a sharp eye out for activity from his office on the 19th floor of the Phillips Building downtown! Meanwhile I will be heading to Ponca for the day tomorrow.
I also have a crush on Benedict and I'm enjoying your busy weekend. Very fun! On this end, we are recovering from taking John to his very first tent event at Oktoberfest...early bedtime, anyone?
