Give 'em "The Bird"

...er...the chicken...

We had a fabulous time playing Flickin' Chicken' yesterday in the backyard.  The rubber chickens are a bit on the squishy gross side (so they bounce great).  But once you get past that sensation, the game is really fun.  The game is played and scored like miniature golf.  You throw your chicken as many times as it takes to hit the target.  This is harder than it looks because the chickens roll, bounce...get stolen by the dog, etc.  It was especially fun to play with the boys.  Ashton likes to launch his chicken into outer space (usually in the opposite direction of the target).  Zach treats his like a missile, so he usually hits close to the target, but then bounces an equal distance farther away.  Either way- totally fun.  Can't wait to play with visiting family.

Saturday afternoon, Zach attended a birthday party at Laser Quest with Derek chaperoning.  He did rather well at Laser Tag (his pseudonym was "Spider-man") and enjoyed a Transformers-themed party including pizza and a cupcake cake.

Did you catch Snyx peeking in the pic above?

Tonight I have been working (yay) as I am preparing a presentation for our new company CEO.  A while back I announced on the blog that ConocoPhillips will be splitting into two independent companies, one focused on the crude oil production side of the business and the other on refining (gasoline and diesel production).  As of May 1st, 2012, Derek and I will be working for the refining company which will be called "Phillips 66".  So, everyone is prepping for the big split.  The new company will also have it's headquarters in Houston, just like ConocoPhillips (this name will stick with the crude oil company).  The exact building location has yet to be announced.  However, the new CEO was announced recently and my group, along with management, is helping to make preparations for strategy for the new company once the split is official in May - hence my upcoming presentation.  Very exciting!

Along with work, I have been single parenting tonight as Derek flew to Bartlesville this afternoon for an overnight stay for training.  He will be home around bath time tomorrow night.  Yay!

Ok, I am off to curl up with Snyx and a book.   More soon!
