Derek and I will be able to pick up our new Subaru Outback (in azurite blue pearl color) next Wednesday, December 30th down in Tulsa. We were disappointed that it could not be before Christmas, but thrilled that we are getting what we want before the new year. I am posting a picture (the Outback in blue) that we can look at longingly until we are able to pick it up. Interestingly enough, Grandpa Cliff and Grandma Dixie went to Indianapolis this week and bought the same model in silver. (I am jealous that they were able to drive theirs right off the lot.- Course
THEY bought an automatic while WE bought a manual transmission...manuals are harder to come by because Americans are just LAZY drivers and like to take the fun out of driving!!!) Now we just have to convince the rest of the family to get on the Subaru bandwagon...

Grandma Evelyn really liked the Outback. I wouldn't be surprised if she bought one in the spring!
ReplyDeleteMaybe some Americans are lazy but we are taking advantage of the Subaru technology. The automatic gets better gas mileage than the standard transmission. Not to mention, no costly clutch repairs for those who have a little trouble with their shifting!!

ReplyDeleteMine is green! Got a new one so that Myles could have the 2006 for his new adventures in Indianapolis. But then he totalled it (he's ok, repairs to car would have been just over what it's worth); now the poor guy is car shopping and can't afford a new Subaru.

Dixie, I did not mean to imply that you and Cliff are lazy. Just that since generally Americans don't like to drive manuals, they are super-hard to get your hands on!!!! Glad Evelyn wants one too!
ReplyDeleteWell Tommi you can add us to the list of Outback owners. Julie and I went to town to buy some shoes for me and came home with the car (plus the shoes). Guess we should have checked your blog first cause we own a blue one also! And yes, it's an automatic. They actually had several manual shifts on the lot. Thanks to you and Derek for sharing your experience/research with the Outback. We instantly fell in love with the car, so we just brought it home with us.
