Zach 'N The Pox

Well, not really...but the title sounded catchy.

Poor "Z" has come down with "erythema multiforme", an adverse immune response from the MMR and chickenpox vaccines that he got last week at the doctor's office. We thought yesterday that it was hives initially. However when it showed up on his face this morning we knew to take him to the doctor to get it checked out. While not contagious, the splotches are itchy and he has a slight fever. The doctor say he may also experience some joint pain. Symptoms may last for up to two weeks. He was excited to go to daycare this morning after the doctor. However we got a call just after lunch saying he had chills, was not eating, and was not playing. So, I picked him up, took him to the drug store for ibuprofen and benadryl, and now have him bundled up on the couch with a large juice watching "Star Destroyers" (Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back). He was so good at the doctor and the drug store that I let him pick out a plane in the toy section. He picked an SR-71 that you can see in the pic. I told him the plane's name was a "Blackbird". He said "No Mommy, it is a black PLANE!"- ha! Hopefully he will be better tomorrow after some rest and TLC!
