Last Saturday Derek, Ash, and I braved a cold windy afternoon to visit the annual STEM celebration at Ft Tuthill. We enjoyed all of the wonderful science exhibits and demonstrations. Here Ashton points out his bus route home from school on the electric city bus we also got to see the engine of the new electric school buses.
Below Ashton tests his reaction time catching falling styrofoam cylinders. He caught 5 out of 6!

We also started and completed a new magic puzzle. Here is a picture of the completed puzzle as well as some fun scenes. We have not completed the magic part of the puzzle yet so no spoilers here

On Tuesday night Derek and I attended the members-only preview of the new “Stories of the Moon” open sky planetarium show at Lowell Observatory. The moon was out too adding to the effect of the show
After a challenging day early in the week with Mom having a fainting spell and spending a day in the hospital, she celebrated her 78th birthday on Wednesday. She does not remember that it is her birthday, so surprises happened all day long!
One of our neighbor’s daughters came over yesterday to read to Curie. Curie was a very patient and willing audience. So cute!
Zach sent a picture of his big engineering design class project poster and prototype hydraulic arm. We are very proud of all of his efforts at ASU!
Ashton had his final high school band concert for his junior year last night. The kids did an amazing job!
Alex Skelton, who is a good friend of Zach’s and fellow Flag High Grad, is a music composition major at ASU. He composed a special piece which was premiered by the band last night called “The Ponded Goose”. The kids all wore ducks on their heads to help the fun mood of the piece.
The duck is now making random appearances around the house.
