In reverse order because that is how we roll. Haha! Here is Ashton hanging out in the hot tub at our hotel despite and cold and rain.
Our hotel is on Lake Lagarfljot which, according to folklore, is inhabited by a Wyrm akin to the Loch Ness monster. We are keeping our eyes peeled!!!
Here are views from our 3 mile hike up to Hengifoss waterfall. The red color is the rare appearance of iron on the earthen layers.
More hexagonal volcanic pillars!
A look to Lake Lagarfljot.
A look up toward the magnificent upper Hengifoss.
The red bands in the rock around the falls- outstanding!
The view of the falls at the top of the trail.
Ashton!!!
Lower Hengifoss with the basalt pillars.
It rained the whole way! Rain gear to the rescue!!!
Saw shepherding via horse!!
Ashton stocked up on our favorite Haribo candy at the Bonus grocery store (we think it’s funny that their logo is a fat piggy bank).
We stopped at a pizza restaurant for lunch that had a pizza buffet. We were so excited because one of the offerings was our favorite pepperoni and olive!
Fish farming in the fjords.
Reindeer!!!
Lovely views of the clouds creeping over the peaks as we left the Hofn area this morning!
In the first photo in the Hengifoss hike, it looks like the cliff is actually alive with giant eyes and mouth - like a massive Yoda face sans ears.
