Whirlwind Road Trip! Part 4: July 24, 2024

On Wednesday we spent the morning visiting The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History.  We had last visited this museum as a family back in 2016. It was fun to see what was new.  The boys especially liked seeing the aircraft and missiles.

I turned 49 so I stood by Indium on the floor periodic table.
Derek between elements 49 (Indium) and 50 (Tin)!

Ashton poses with the B-59 Stratofortress!  It is huge!  Can you spot him?

Ashton says that the smaller Superfortress is actually his favorite (of Enola Gay fame).

The boys, then and now, 2016 versus 2024.  Is the sub shrinking????

After enjoying the museum, we enjoyed a fabulous New Mexican lunch at Padilla's Mexican Kitchen. Green chile, red chile, sopapillas...all sooooooo good!!!!

We then started the 5 hour drive home arriving in Flagstaff in time to pick up Curie, eat dinner, start laundry, and head to Wednesday night band practice.  We definitely all slept like logs last night and are enjoying a restful afternoon while the monsoon storms dump much-needed moisture on Flagstaff.  (Zach is currently upstairs working hard on his class project for his final.)  We are still time zone  challenged but glad to be home to Curie and our own beds.  Thanks again Grandpa Randy and Grandma Peggy for taking care of Curie while we were away!
