Friday afternoon Derek, Ashton, Zach, and I drove down to Gila Bend, AZ as the start of a long weekend spring break trip. We stayed overnight at the Best Western Space Age hotel with ALIENS! It was like a bit of Roswell, NM decided to drop in to Arizona.
The diner had a mural in their bar of the Star Trek Enterprise. Way Cool!!!!
Zach enjoys onion rings at the Space Age Diner. We were commenting that many of the rings resembled mini-solar systems being stuck together.
The hotel decor was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!
After dinner at the hotel Space Age diner, we took a walk down the main street of Gila Bend. Now Gila Bend is the antithesis of entertaining. However they did have a very nice, yet sobering park dedicated to 9/11 including an artifact from one of the World Trade Center Twin Towers (on the left in the pictures below).
After our walk, we play Uno No Mercy in the hotel room. Family time is such a treat!!!
Earlier in the week, Ashton and the FHS band hosted a concert in conjunction with Mount Elden Middle School Here are some highlights!
Derek and I helped serve the band pizza before their 7:30pm concert. The band played pieces for their annual adjudication event before dinner and received a superior rating. It was a long, but productive day. Everyone is ready for spring break!
Not to be outdone, my Oklahoma running and fitness friends learned that I will be attending BodyBalance training next weekend. So they sent me Wonder Woman goodies for good luck. Everyone needs Wonder Woman underwear!!! Ha!
