Sunday morning we slept in and took our time with breakfast. We then gassed up with the help of dinosaurs at the Shell station and headed back to Phoenix.
We stopped in Tempe to drop Zach back off at ASU as his classes were starting back up on Monday. It was a great, yet somehow incredible fast, week having him home with us. We wish him luck on his upcoming next round of exams.
Ash helped Zach carry his stuff back to his dorm.
Then Ash, Derek, and I made our way over to Tucson where we saw even more dinosaurs. Apparently T-rex are big fans of McDonalds!
In Tucson we stopped at Ranch Rodeo for authentic Mexican food. The street tacos were amazing- especially Derek's who had steak and green chile tacos. Soooo good!
After lunch we drove over to Saguaro National Park East to enjoy some easy hiking amongst the Saguaro. Ashton opted to "rest" in the car while Derek and I hiked for 3.5 miles. The trails were very level and well-groomed. While the vegetation was not as dense as in Organ Pipe, we had a nice time enjoying the scenery.
Huge barrel cactus with fruit!
A view of Mt. Lemon with snow.
Pricy pear were everywhere!
I found my spirit Saguaro!
After hiking, we drove to our hotel in Wilcox, AZ. It was right next to a Safeway grocery store. So Derek and I walked over and got some evening snacks. We had a nice time relaxing, eating snacks, and playing Quix dice games- resting up for more hiking the following day.
