Marching Madness!

Despite the rough week, we had a busy weekend of much-needed distraction cheering on Ashton and the Flagstaff High School Eagle Pride Marching Band at the latest football game on Friday night and then again on Saturday at the NAU Band Day marching band competition.  The FHS final full half time show program included the pieces "The Incredibles", "Sir Duke". "Windy", and "Big Noise from Winnetka". It was a traditional marching band show with lots of peppy music, fancy footwork, and just plain crowd-pleasing fun!  Fantastic! (And much-needed joy!) Here are some pictures of Ashton and the band! We are so proud of the kids and all of their hard work!

Friday night's game was "Senior Night" where all of the band seniors were recognized.  Last Tuesday evening, Grandma Dixie and I helped make sashes for the seniors with other band booster parents.  Art and crafts is hard work! We were picking apart iron on sticky letters for the sashes using tool that look like those that you'd find in a dentist office.  Hence my silly picture.  

Friday afternoon Derek, Dixie, and I helped serve dinner to the band before the game. In addition to the usual set up, we put out special decorations and desserts (cupcakes) to celebrate the band seniors.
