Marching ahead!

Ashton had a great week at band camp. He dressed up in my old refinery flame retardant jumpsuit for “handyman” spirit day on Wednesday.
Thursday evening, the entire band got together after camp for Champions Night where the different sections competed against one another with fun challenges, are metric tons of snacks, and partied in the FHS pool. The woodwinds wore red. Can you spot Ash in the pictures below wearing his red and white-striped shirt?

Their band director, Dr. Mac, was “pied”! Ashton was photographed and interviewed by the local paper. Stay tuned to the blog in case he makes the paper!
Tonight was the marching band family preview night where we got to see all that the band had accomplished during 5 days of band camp. Wow! They are looking and sounding great, especially with just under half of the band as brand new members. Brought back a lot of memories of my high school band days!

Band Mom! Eagle Spirit!!!

So proud of our favorite FHS freshman flautist!! Can’t wait to see how the band evolves over the coming year!
In other news, I found a great deal on a higher-end mountain bike from NAU surplus (which collects stuff that is discarded by the students and university). Here I am picking my bike up from bike shop Bici-Mundo who did a tune-up on it. Can’t wait to take it out for a spin in the woods with Derek this weekend!

  1. Love all of this :) So happy (and unsurprised) to see Ash flourishing in high school. He’ll hit the ground running when school actually begins :)
