November 2: A Day for Solving Equations, Receiving Eye Upgrades, and Taking Swimming to the Next Level

Zach attended Math Day at NAU today with classmates from his calculus and statistics classes from Flag High. It is an annual event hosted by the University bringing together high school math students from northern Arizona for fun math competition and learning. The event was postponed for two years due to Covid. Zach and his classmates had a great time working in teams to solve all sorts of different problems. AND he got a cool t-shirt! Can you spot him in some of the pictures below? (Hint- he is wearing a green Flag High t-shirt).

Grandpa Randy underwent the first of two eye cataract surgeries today. All went smoothly and he received a new groovy pair of shades!

Mom and I had a nice time lunching and a bit of shopping during Dad’s procedure. I take him for a follow up check up tomorrow morning and again next Wednesday. Surgery #2 to take place in 2 weeks.

Ashton attended his first Bronze Team practice today. While Blue Team focused on stroke technique, Bronze starts to focus on stamina. I got tired watching them swim lap after lap! The picture below is the team receiving instruction from their Coach.

Tonight we are experiencing our first major wintery weather with snow expected through tomorrow. Stay tuned!
