Eagle Tennis- Flying High at the End of Season!!

Derek and I went down to Phoenix yesterday, braving the 98 degree heat and wind, to watch Zach and team play their final match of the normal season against Greenway High School. The guys played really well after a match at home in Flagstaff on Monday afternoon against tough rival Cactus Shadows High School. Flagstaff ended up winning both overall team matches for a final record of 13-1 going in to state play which starts at the end of the month. Stay-tuned!

Groupies!!!





Zach won both his singles and doubles match yesterday. Monday he lost both singles and doubles. However we are super-proud of him. His singles match lasted over 2 hours with a 10 point tie-break at the end. Zach was cramping up at the end but powered through. Here he is yesterday getting done stretching help from his coach before play after that long match on Monday. 

In other news, there is a very large fire northeast of Flagstaff which has caused home evacuations. Our house and the main part of Flag is nowhere near this fire. We are safe! However our hearts go out yo those who have been evacuated and/or have lost property as the fire crews attempt to get the fire under control. It is very dry and windy here, so conditions are very challenging. Below is a picture taken yesterday at sunset by a friend and fellow quintet member who lives near the fire area. She is safe, but ready to evacuate if called upon to do so. So scary!
