Front Page News!

Ashton made the front page of today’s local newspaper, pictured playing corn hole with local police officers during Tuesday evening’s National Night Out event at Bushmaster Park!

I snagged a digital copy of the picture from the internet as well! Since moving to Flag two years ago, our family has done rather well getting our pictures in the local paper!

This morning I had another wildlife encounter off of Lake Mary Road!!! As Clara and I were running along the Fay Ridge Trail before 6am this morning, we came across a herd of ~20 elk including babies! Beautiful! They crossed the path and ran up the hillside with no effort at all as we slowly ambled past. It was fun hearing them in the distance calling out to one another (also called “bugling”) as we completed our 5 mile trek through the woods. And it was much less stressful than the skunk family encounter! Ha!

In other news, two books that I really enjoyed this week were the following:
The following is a fairy tale with many magical elements. It was a nice enjoyable escape. Quick read.

This book is narrated by an alien that inhabits a human body. He has come to “fix” the fact that a human mathematician has discovered a formula that would ultimately cause the downfall of humanity and possibly the universe. But in the process of “fixing” the problem, he comes to love humanity even with all of its flaws. This book was funny, sincere, and just so very hopeful.
