An O’Leary Peak Ascent

Clara and I hiked up O’Leary Peak to the lookout tower on the east side of Flagstaff. It was 10 miles round trip and a ~2,000 ft elevation gain with great views of Sunset Crater and the San Francisco Peaks from the top! We started early (before 6am) and were done by 9am to avoid the 95 degree heat expected later today! During our drive to the trailhead we saw 5 large elk with large velvety antlers! We also saw a prairie dog cross the road in front of us on the way home. And yes, he or she made it safely across!
