Proud of the boys for doing challenging things!

I am so proud of Ashton for his hard work at swimming lessons. He is listening well to his instructor’s comments and has shown improvement in his strokes after just two sessions. He may not be the fastest or the best in his small class at each of the skills, but he is not letting that discourage him at all!
Here he is showing off his new swim “jammers”!

Additionally, I am so proud of him for joining junior band. Last night he played flute for the first time ever with a live ensemble, sight-reading brand new music much of which was fairly advanced for a newbie. He did great! I sat with him and played as well since there was only one other flute (a really nice 8th grader- another boy) in addition to Ashton in the band. There are a few adults (in addition to me) who have volunteered to help with the junior band. It is a small group this year, but they sound great! Ash and I will be practicing the music together daily to help him gain confidence playing the music and modify where the music may be too hard for his level. So far his favorite piece is “Boogie Blues”!

Meanwhile, Zach had an official interview with the general manager of a local McDonalds yesterday for a summer job. He filled out all of the tax and work forms. Now he waits until they call with his work schedule. Yay Zach for going through the interview process and securing a summer job!
