Industrious Ashton!

Ashton released carbon dioxide using his new chemistry set today. He also made up litmus solution for future acid-base reactions!

Ashton’s other project is making an ornamental wooden knife using skills that he is learning from his new Swiss Army Knife whittling book. He made the handle yesterday and will be working on the blade portion later today. He learned how to select different branch pieces for different projects, how to clean the wood and remove the bark (if desired), and different simple whittling cuts for creating rings on snd rounding the end of the handle.

Removing the bark from the wood left such a cool patterns on the handle, like rivers through the Grand Canyon.
