A Fabulous Day Hiking in Dead Horse Ranch State Park

We Miller’s started the day with waffles with strawberry topping and breakfast sausage. Then we hit the road and drove down to Cottonwood, AZ to visit Dead Horse Ranch State Park for a day of hiking and enjoyment if the outdoors. We really enjoyed the 60 degree weather (as it was only made it up to low 40s in Flag today).

We hiked the Verde River and Tavasci Marsh trails from Dead Horse into Tuzigoot National Momument. Seeing the marshland up close and ancient pueblos from afar. Sooooo cool! The cattails were “shedding” fuzz everywhere! The colors were outstanding!

The trees formed a canopy by the marsh. I just love the picture below with the boys in the trees. It made me think of a scene out of the Lord of the Rings.

Do you see the water in the picture below?

We then walked around the three lagoons located in the park. So many ducks! Lots of people we fishing and enjoying the warm sunshine with their families. Such beautiful scenery!
