You can see the road going down into the canyon in the picture below. The road at this point is NOT SAFE for bikes. At this point, the large bike lanes disappear and switchbacks make travel very dangerous. The Oak Creek Overlook is a great place to stop, take in the sights as well as a short rest break, and turn around to return to Flag.

A Bike Ride to the Oak Creek Canyon Overlook
I biked this morning from Flagstaff 11miles down to the Oak Creek Canyon Overlook above Sedona. Great views! And Holy Hills on the 11 mile bike ride back home! Great workout- Over thirteen hundred feet of elevation gain over the entire 22 miles. The views of the San Francisco peaks were great on the return trip!
