A hike to a hidden arch!

Yesterday afternoon we drive down to Sedona and hiked the Fay Canyon trail. The boys had the day off from school, so we decided that we needed to go on an outdoor adventure. The trail was nice and shaded amongst the huge red rock towering cliffs. At the end we scaled a steep rock slide for a fabulous view. On the way back out if the canyon we took a detour path to a hidden arch. You cannot tell that it is an arch until you stand almost right beneath it. The steep climb up to the arch was very rewarding.

Prickly pear and other cactus types were everywhere- love the contrast between the red rock and the green foliage.

Climb rewarded by a breathtaking view.

That’s no cave!

Steep climb up to the arch!

Still looks like a cave, but it is not.

It is a true freestanding arch. You can’t really tell until you stand underneath. It is huge!

Large debate, but we concluded hiking down was harder than up, but oh so fun! I really enjoyed this time with the boys.
