After getting back to Flag, we got cleaned up, ate some lunch and then drive to NAU to attend the US Army Field Band Concert celebrating the centennial of the Grand Canyon. Wow! Such a great concert with both patriotic music and special music composed for the Grand Canyon event. Music was also composed, performed, and conducted by the famous TV and symphonic composer Jeff Beal. It was great to see him conduct his grand debut piece for this Grand Canyon event!
Other great highlights included the quintet performance of “Lost in the Golden Age” written by a young Navaho man who was present in the audience to hear his piece performed. It was outstanding. Additionally 6 high school Navaho band musicians were invited to perform with the band for “A Million Dreams”.
Jeff Beal conducting “We Breathless Stand”.
Four awesome piccolos for the Stars and Stripes Forever!
After such an outstanding day, we went home to warm up on homemade beef stew!
Tomorrow it is back to a regular school week after an eventful Fall Break.
Your weekend sounds outstanding!
