Day 2 of Flag Science Fest: Science in the Park

I ran 10 miles early this morning with Clara on woodland trails. After lunch Derek, Ash, and I went to Science in the Park at Wheeler Park while Zach went to tennis clinic at NAU.

Pinewood Derby car racing with the Boy Scouts.

Catching balls tossed by robots with the Coconino High School robotics club (the CocoNuts!).

Making alien blood with the associates from Gore.

Ash could have picked red for human blood or green for alien blood. He chose green! We always suspected that he may be related to Mr. Spock!

Watching homemade rocket launches!

Making slime with Tinkertopia!!
Learning about logging/forest clearing to keeps forests healthy and other activities from the NAU logging team. There will be an inter-collegiate competition April 1-3 hosted by NAU here in Flag next year. We will definitely be attending!!!

Derek also received a free topographical map of Arizona from the USGS. We also learned about edible plants in the forest and received an informative poster on home fire safety (minimizing wildfire risks) from the FireWise USA  group.
