Green Chile and Insects

We spent Saturday afternoon with our friends the Lewis's in PONCA City where we helped peel roasted New Mexico green chile. (Using gloves to protect from the hit chile spiciness!!!) The reward for our efforts was green chile cheeseburgers and beer! The kids also had fun playing in the Lewis's wading pool and the adults played Rumikub!

This afternoon I discovered an old crumpled up paper in Zach's backpack from the end of last year detailing his 7th grade science summer assignment to collect bugs for a project due Oct 1. (Argh!!!) So we went out this evening and collected our first specimens- a cicada, a weevil, and a cricket. They are now in the freezer next to the ice cream. More to come! (We will have to double our efforts since we lost the summer to get most of this done!) We did have fun trying to catch a dragon fly even though we were ultimately not successful. We laughed so hard at our crazy antics. Passing motorists must have thought that we were crazy! Ha!

  1. Hey...I've been bug crazy most of my lifetime.

Silly...those dragonfly s will make you look foolish as they stop like a hummingbird while you're taking a swipe at them with you 'bug' net!

    Good luck hunting...
