Visiting the FMI Morenci Mine

After meetings with the Safford Freeport McMoran oil analysis laboratory in the morning, we drove 45 minutes north to their Morenci Mine to see our bulk lubes facility that supports their operation. Morenci is one of the largest open pit copper mines in North America. Way cool big ass mining vehicles!

 

    

Most, if not all, of the land, housing, and townsite is owned, leased and operated by the mine to keep their employees happy here at the mine. Ate a wonderful green chile cheeseburger for lunch at a tasty greasy spoon with our PHILLIPS 66 colleagues who live here in AZ and support our mining customers. Between the food and the mountain views, I could be happy here! (Might not say that in the summer with the 120+ degree heat!!! Ha!). 

Love seeing the desert plants in bloom for spring. The Ocotillo is my favorite!!

 

Great trip and learning experience. Looking forward to getting home to the boys tomorrow night!
