Port to Fort Adventure Race!

Last night, I drove to Muskogee, OK with my friends Denay and Glenda to participate as a 3 person team in this morning's Port to Fort Adventure Race at Three Forks Harbor along the Grand and Arkansas Rivers. What a complete blast!

The race started with a jump off of an 8ft high pier for a 100 yard swim across the port inlet. Then up the bank and onto a 5 mile trail run. Well, at one point the trail was marked funny. So quite a bunch of us got off course and went an extra 2 miles. The trail was pretty nice for running and the weather was almost perfect - overcast with a light breeze - just a tad on the humid side. The last half mile of the trail run was very technical. We had to use ropes to climb up and down steep embankments and then "hiked" right along the muddy river bank and waded, sometimes waist deep, along the route to the point where we ran over to the point where we hopped into our three person canoe. The canoe paddle was for five miles with the river current. After beaching our canoe, then a short spring up the finish line. In all, including the detour, the race took us about 2 hrs and 45 minutes. So much fun! Great company! Fantastic medals and race shirts too!

Then we drove back to the hotel to get cleaned up, then on to Tulsa to eat lunch at Fat Guys Butgers. I had the spicy pickle burger. Total yum!
Now home and relaxing!
