Hot stuff!

This weekend has been busy and HOT!! Summer is now in full swing!

The boys have been having a blast at camp, especially visiting the swimming pool. The Blanchard family has met them at the pool during the camp swim times so that the boys could play together and get quality time in before they leave for Norway until mid-July. We will miss their family big time!
Yesterday we met the Blanchards at the circus which is in town for the weekend. Wow- humid and HOT under the big top! Everyone was drenched in sweat by the end. However it was totally worth it to see the jugglers, acrobats, elephants, and the daredevil bike act (3 motorbikes driving in concentric circles and different directions within a ball cage-impressive).

After the show, all came back to our house for Derek's famous chicken and portabella mushroom fajitas, margaritas (adults) and homemade brownies with ice cream. Derek and Ash had fun making the brownies together Saturday morning after going out for haircuts and a visit to the library.
Last night I met up with Tracy and other running friends and we traveled to Stillwater together in order to run The Scorcher half marathon this morning. Great race! Beautiful course through the Oklahoma State University campus and around Boomer Lake. It was Gabi's first half. She did great! Glad it started at 6:30 am as it started to get really hot by the end. Here is a sweaty selfie of me at mile 12 by Boomer Lake. Never in my life have I so wanted to jump into a lake before!
We all made it in with decent times given the heat. I ran it in 2:13.
Left to Right: Tracy, Erin, Gabi, Me, Denay
After the run, we went back to the hotel to clean up, with an initial stop to jump fully clothed into the pool (minus shoes and socks of course!). Then on to a Thai cafe for lunch followed by a bit of shopping at a local boutique recommended by Denay who is an OSU grad. Found some cowgirl boots to match my hat! YeeHaw! (And a fun scarf that reminds me of New Mexico).
Stopped at a rest area on the way home to nab fries. Best fries EVER! SALT!
Now home relaxing with the boys. I gave Zach my race tshirt and he was excited because it was orange! Denay got a happy meal at McDonalds and gave me the toy to give to Ash. He was excited to add the new Skylanders toy to those he got last weekend from McD on our car ride home from NM. He asked if I could go run another race tomorrow and stop at McD on the way home so that he could try and complete the set. Ha! Funny boy!
