Besides the scavenger hunt, the highlight of the visit was the elephants getting a morning shower with a mid-morning veggie snack!
After the zoo, we ate a new Mexican restaurant called Ted's Cafe Escondito. Wow- FABULOUS food!!!! Since we were first-time customers we were treated to complementary guacamole (now I am not usually a guac fan, but this was OUTSTANDING!!!!). This was in addition to the chips, 3 different kinds of salsas and cheese sauce as well as freshly made, warm tortillas that greet you at the table when you arrive. The entrees were fabulous (I had pollo ranchera with chile mashed potatoes and corn while Derek had tacos al carbon. Total yum!!!) At the end of the meal, you are also treated to complimentary sopapillas covered in cinnamon and sugar served with honey. Sorry- was totally absorbed in eating those and forgot to take a picture. We will definitely be coming back to Ted's in the future!!!!
Ashton with his cheese nachos and Zach with chicken burrito with cheese sauce.
We then did a small bit of shopping and returned home around 2:30pm. We hung out on the deck reading and the boys played in the yard and then video games. At 7pm we headed to the Kiddie Park for an evening of fast-paced fun! The kids hit all of the rides that they did not partake of during our last visit.
Well, except the rockets and planes. We ALWAYS have to ride the rockets and planes. Although Zach is getting a bit too tall to ride in the back of the rockets.
And park snacks!! We can't forget snacks!!!! (Especially cheap $1.50 snacks!!!!)
Here we all are on the train!!! Unfortunately, the train broke down before we got underway, so we hopped off and rode the carousel. Oh well. I guess we will just have to go back to Kiddie Park again!!!!
What a fun day!
