Someone has to throw up when we go anywhere on vacation. This time it was Zachary and we had not even left yet! Derek and I had just finished packing the car and we were all on the way into the garage to take Snyx to the kennel and be on our way. Zach then proceeded to throw up all over the garage. Yuck! Cleaned up the garage. Got in the car. Gave Zach a load of towels. Headed to the kennel. Zach proceeds to NOT tell us he still feels ill and throws up all over himself and his side of the back seat just as we are pulling into the kennel. The towels remained immaculate. Snickers, who was sitting in between the boys, was oblivious, barking madly at all of the other dogs at "camp". We got the dog checked in, then drove back home to clean up Zach and the car. So, finally an HOUR later than planned we were on our way. Zach seemed to perk up. Two hours later, we were just about to pull in to POPs for lunch just outside of Oklahoma City. Zach throws up again - this time hitting the towel. Yay!
Despite the morning full of bleck, we had a nice time at POPs. We sat outside for lunch and enjoyed picking out fun sodas to enjoy during our trip. Zach was feeling better. So he helped me a little with my grilled cheese while sipping a Sprite. So all seemed well after getting back on the road. The kids were playing and having a grand old time in the back seat.
Then it got quiet... and Zach spewed once again. Luckily I packed extra clothes for him. After that episode, we were also getting dangerously low on towels. (And I am so looking forward to doing laundry first thing when we get to Ruidoso on Sunday afternoon!!!! NOT!!!!)
So, the rest of the trip was uneventful. We made it to Amarillo around 6pm and had a nice dinner together at a local steakhouse. Everyone's appetite is back to normal. The kids are currently acting WAY GOOFY in the hotel shower! Silly nuts! Hopefully everyone else will stay well. Knock on wood! We will enjoy the Science Museum here in Amarillo tomorrow morning, then drive to Carlsbad, NM after lunch.
Tucked in for the night! (Watching Notre Dame basketball. Ash likes their groovy green uniforms!!!)
Oh no! Poor thing! I'm glad to hear everyone seems to be alright now...knock on wood it stays that way. It looks like you guys are having a great time...enjoy yourselves and have a safe trip!
ReplyDeleteHope this is the low point of your vacation.
