Playin' the Weekend Away

After a busy week of work and school, we had a great weekend playin' together as a family.  Yesterday, we spent most of the morning and early afternoon lounging, watching cartoons, and playing games (latest addiction for everyone is Plants vs. Zombies!!!).  Then about 3pm, I took Snickers on a 3 mile walk up to and around the duck pond.  Around dinner time we fired up the grill.  While it was heating up we played out front on bikes and scooters.  Zach and I went on a 20 minute ride around the neighborhood on the tandem bike.  Then we tucked in to delicious hamburgers!

After dinner, it looked like rain, but we crossed our fingers, got cleaned up, and headed to the Kiddie Park for the last night of the season.  So much fun!!!!  We then capped off the evening at Cherry Berry for a cool iced yogurt treat!  The rain stayed away until after we returned home.

Today we headed out around 9am to Tulsa and spent the day at the zoo.  The we had Freebirds for lunch (total yum!) and headed back home to finish laundry, etc etc. So great weekend!  I am heading to Richmond, VA for work Tues thru Friday.  Then we are looking forward to the long holiday weekend!

In school news, Zach has really been enjoying second grade.  He has been reading the 1st book in the series "The Boxcar Children".  He loved it so much he asked if we could read it together at home.  So, for $20 at amazon.com I found that I could buy the first 12 books in the series (versus each for $4).  So we bought the set and Zach reads ME a bedtime story every night!  How awesome!  Ashton continues to enjoy the 3-4 year old class at daycare with lots more outdoor playtime since the weather has been cooler.
