Happy New Year!!!!
(Ok so we are posting 5 days in to the new year, but better late than never!).
Zach's class had a Silly Sock Hop at school today with all of the first grade classes to celebrate the new year "on the right foot". Zach's silly socks were like gloves for his toes striped with orange, his favorite color. He said the dance was really fun. They danced in different shapes and the teachers even had silly socks too.
Ash's class started their transportation unit this week. Apparently Ashton told his class that we would be visiting the airport this weekend to buy our own "giant airplane". Ha! This is news to me! Good thing we bought him a toy airplane for his birthday! (Festivities are planned for this weekend!)
Derek and I are getting back into the swing of things at work. I stood in line behind the Phillips 66 CEO in the cafeteria today and he remembered me from my presentation in November. Yay! Besides that, it is the usual day to day drivel --- my new "That's Crap!" memo post-it notes that I found in my stocking have been getting a workout! (My colleagues LOVE them!!!) Derek has been busy writing a paper at work and keeping up with all of the outside Republican politics.
Not much else is new with us. My goals this weekend are to finish the family photobook for 2011 as well as get Ashton's birthday presents wrapped before Sunday (which will be the day we officially celebrate his birthday).
Oh yes, since I know you have all felt deprived, this weeks spelling words are the following:
around, cube, cute, find, food, flute, grow, here, huge, June, rude, rule, tube, these, under, water
Challenge and Science Words: scenery, spruced, hummingbird, magnetism
Zach is also busy learning about making nouns plural with "s" and "es" in language arts and working on number line estimation in math class.
Apparently he also will be "writing a goal for 2012". We are doing the same thing at work right now. SCARY!!
Here are some cure photos of sugar cookie-making activity from G&G Ruchti's visit! Ashton was just coated with flour by the end, even with having the apron on and all!
Ya must have impressed the Biggie!
