Just a few quick updates. First and foremost, Derek's latest CAT scan and blood work came back negative. He now does not have to be seen for 6 months (he was being tested every 3 months). Yay! Yay! Yay! He is currently suffering from the after-affects of drinking a barium shake for the CAT scan which was performed last Friday, but is on the mend. (Digestion just has not been that comfortable for him lately...)
Zach gave his book report to his class today and did well. He said he teacher told him "Good job!" In the world of spelling words, we are now into long vowel sounds.
This week's words are:bike, bite, chime, hide, hike, kite, life, like, line, live, mine, out, people, ride, side, slice, time, white, who, work
challenge and science words: citizen, community, telephone, translucent
Last weeks words: bake, be, came, could, game, gate, horse, lake, made, make, name, of, old, paper, rake, same, space, stage, take, classmates, century, giraffe, refract
He has been learning all about the different states of matter in science class. In social studies he is learning about the different symbols of the United States. He is going to take a copy of the picture that I took of the Statue of Liberty during my trip to Germany to show his class tomorrow. Yay!
Ashton has been doing well. His latest phrase that he likes to say when he eats food that he thinks is yummy is "There is a party in my tummy!" Too cute!
Snickers is in good form and started the week by killing off another pair of my unsuspecting underwear. She totally has figured out how to knock open our bedroom door (obviously it does not latch terribly well). We enjoyed a brisk raus tonight after my 3 mile treadmill run. It is definitely winter here (Winter = 30s and 40s). I was admiring the Christmas decorations that are slowly going up around the neighborhood. Some are really nice and some look like if I gave Zach and Ash a bunch of light strands and told them to decorate the front yard. Maybe I will take the camera with me later in the week to help showcase the good, bad, and ugly! Our front door is adorned with our light-up wreath. No blinking or anything fancy- just simple multi-colors. Funny thing is that only the green bulbs were lighting up until I changed the batteries (takes 2-D batteries, of course we had every kind but those until I picked them up at the store yesterday...).
Anyway, another Monday has come and gone and it is already 10pm. Ugh! The evenings ALWAYS go too quickly!
Oh I forgot that the other great thing about today was that we had breakfast for dinner. Hash, eggs, toast, juice, hot tea. The boys gobbled up everything on their plates. Nothing like comfort food when it is cold!
Great news on Derek's latest testing. If Snickers continues her eating habits, you won't have near so much to pack if you have to move!
