Pasta and Pictures, Boys and Books

Today was Zach's elementary school Italian dinner night and book fair - a fundraiser for the school.  We walked over at 5:30pm (so nice to live just a block away and now having to worry about parking!).  The dinner consisted of chicken marsala, penne with tomato sauce, salad with a light cesear dressing and italian bread with Halloween cookies for dessert.  The school cafeteria was decorated in green, white, and red balloons.  Zach had a great time introducing us to all of his friends.  After dinner and stopping to chat with my friend Mariam and her kids, we hit the PTO school store table to buy Zach a hooded zip sweatshirt for when the weather turns colder.  Then we hit the book fair.  They had a great selection of books.  Zach picked out a new Fly Guy book (our new favorite early reader series).  Ashton found a book all about Mater.  I found a neat book of space poems with fun illustrations for the kids.

Derek and I had a double treat today as there was also a Hispanic Network luncheon today raising money for United Way---- all sorts of homemade food.  Yum!

By the way, the pictures here were taken with our new camera (nice and compact for my upcoming trip to Germany on Saturday). Just one more day of CRAZY WORK before heading out.  Received the news that Mom safely arrived today- yay!
