Survival of "Houston Routine: Day One"

Well, we all survived our first day at work/school/daycare.  Derek got his new badge at work (he looks like a deer in headlights- his forehead is actually gleaming- ha!).  I got 3 new projects assigned to me for a total of 8.  Yippee!  I have 3 meetings to look forward to tomorrow.  It was really hard for me to leave the kids in totally foreign places this morning- especially Zach at the new elementary.  Ash had a fabulous day at daycare including experiencing cereal with milk for the first time!  When we went to pick him up, he actually did not want to go home!  (He did not nap either and was hyped up on sugar from a birthday party cupcake and cookie this afternoon---so he was just a bit of a MONSTER this evening!!!!) Zach had a bit of a rough day at school.  We met his teacher this morning, but only briefly before he was whisked away to the cafeteria to wait until school officially started.  Not much to say about her except we know her name is Miss McCormick. There was not much time to learn anything about her classroom expectations or routines as she was preoccupied and trying to get things prepared for the day (also not sure how much lead time she was given about having a new student).  Apparently Zach had some personal space issues in the cafeteria during lunch, putting food on other kids and in his hair.  He also misbehaved during a fire drill.  (so he had a time out and a "talk" when we got home this evening) However, he did look smashing in his new polo shirt and khaki pant school uniform.  I forgot to take a picture this morning, but will try and take one tomorrow.  He did say he enjoyed riding the bus to daycare in the afternoon as well as telling his class about making stuffing and pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving.  He also enjoyed playing a turkey game on the school computers.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit smoother for everyone now that we have a better idea what to expect.   Is it Friday yet??????
