Fruits of the Harvest

Zachary has been studying pumpkins as well as the story of the Little Red Hen at school. He has been learning how seeds are planted, and that with water and sun they grow, flower, and then produce food. He has been learning about how the little red hen planted and harvested wheat to make flour and bake bread. He also has been learning how pumpkins grow. He drew really neat pictures of the pumpkin growth stages. In the top picture, the first panel shows the seeds being planted, a plant sprouting, and then yellow flowers forming on the vines. The second picture shows the pumpkins growing (first green), then ripening to orange, then picked to make jack-o-lanterns (top) and pumpkin pie (bottom). I thought his artwork was superb!!!! Zach was supposed to have a class field trip to the pumpkin patch tomorrow, but it has been postponed until the 26th due to all of the rain lately. Ash also is learning about food. He tried his first Cheerios tonight since he now has 7 teeth. (The 7th tooth came in over the weekend.) He LOVED them! We now know how to keep him occupied for a nice "quiet" family dinner.

We are really looking forward to Grandma and Grandpa Ruchti's visit this weekend (Saturday through Tuesday) as they are coming specifically see the kids and babysit while Derek and I go to a Star Wars music concert in Tulsa on the evening of Tuesday the 20th (our first real date in like...forever). Grandpa Gary is planning a visit over Halloween. We are hoping for a visit with Grandpa and Grandma Kunze soon too! Much love to all!
