Lots to report, so here goes...
Zach continues to enjoy his new school. They are studying circles. He did a fabulous job coloring and tracing them (with orange marker of course!!!). Unfortunately he had to stay home from school on Friday as he came down with the stomach flu. However, he has bounced back since. We took a family walk at the duck pond yesterday since the weather has been so nice (high 70s). Today we may go to the "dinosaur park" (play equipment shaped like dinosaurs) after dining on slow-cooked red chile beef (makes the house smell sooooooooo good!!!!). Ash is doing really well sitting up on his own. He really likes looking at the soft books that Aunt Jamie had given Zach when he was little as well as any board books with pictures of animals. He also mastered the art of getting up on his hands and knees and rocking back and forth and then shoving himself forward. I imagine he will be starting to crawl any day now (then we are all in trouble- ha!!!).
Derek was cleared by the surgeon on Tuesday to drive and lift the baby (yay!) as he has recovered very well from the surgery. He still has issues bending and stretching certain ways and his incision is still irritating, but that will get better with time. He had a CT scan and blood work earlier in the week to determine if there was any cancer spread to other areas of his body beyond the colon. Both tests came back negative, indicating that the surgery was successful at removing all of the cancer. Yay! He will start his chemotherapy treatment on Monday (treatments every three weeks for 6 months) to remove any straggler cancer cells and try to increase odds of the cancer not returning. His oncologist gave him an excellent prognosis and we are hopeful this will keep him cancer-free for years to come. The chemo will not be fun, but we will take things day by day. Derek has been cleared to work from home or at the office as he feels able. Derek's Dad (Grandpa Gary) will be arriving tomorrow and staying for a week which will also be a nice diversion for him. houghts, and food (and special thanks to Tracy and Stacie for kicking my butt and keeping me running to relieve stress). We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends to help us through this challenging time.

We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends to help us through this challenging time. I ran yesterday morning in the Red Cross Run for Relief 5K here in Bartlesville. (Derek says the logo this year looks like the hospital is on fire.--- He is too funny!) I ran 3.1 miles in 29.34 min and placed second in my age category (Women age 30-34). Yay! This morning I met my other running women friends and ran 7 miles. I should definitely sleep well tonight!
