Good News at Last!
Great news actually! Ash had his latest checkup at the cardiologist this morning. His fixed valve has actually gotten even better in the past three months with blood flow pressure through the valve now in the "normal" level. In her own words, the doctor said he is doing "fantastic"! We do not have to go back for another 6 months. We also learned that Ash is now 29 inches long and weighs 16 pounds, 13 ounces! Derek continues to do well recuperating at home. He is eating more and more every day, and his pain level is much reduced. Grandpa Cliff and Grandma Dixie left this morning to go back to Indiana. It was so nice to have them here to help and for moral support. We send big hugs to them (and a big drool-laden smooch from Ash). Grandpa Randy and Grandma Peggy are now here for a week for their "tour of duty". They arrived yesterday, so we had an evening of overlap and family bonding involving much needed laughter, margaritas, and Mexican food. Recent events have made us all reflect on the importance of friends and family are and how precious each moment together is.
