Hooked on the Sopranos

At the advice of Grandpa and Grandma Kunze, Derek and I rented Season 1 of the HBO series, The Sopranos, on DVD. (We are now totally hooked and blame our addiction on them!) The series takes place in the state of New Jersey. Interestingly, the opening credits show a series of images along the New Jersey Turnpike which include refinery towers and tanks. I have confirmed, after searching websites of many Sopranos fans, that the refinery towers are those located in "refinery row" in Linden, NJ and may likely be those of our ConocoPhillips Bayway Refinery. (For those of you who do not know, both Derek and I are employed as chemists at the ConocoPhillips Technology Center here in Bartlesville, OK. ConocoPhillips is an integrated energy company which operates worldwide and is the second largest refiner in the United States. We have 12 refineries in different locations across the domestic United States.) Unfortunately the cool shot of the "Drive Safely" tank shown in the opening credits is NOT ours. It belongs to CITGO Petroleum. Bummer! (The tank is still cool though!)
